Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Can you tell me more about your songwriting coaching program (SNAP)?

A: SNAP (Song Narrative Accelerator Program) is our one-on-one songwriting coaching program where we teach you our unique narrative-based approach to songwriting that you won’t find anywhere else. We spent years developing this approach for our own music and, after experiencing powerful results, felt compelled to share this with the songwriting community. Simply put, the goal of SNAP is to help you write the songs you want to write.

Q: Who is eligible for SNAP?

A: Songwriters of all styles and experience levels are eligible for SNAP. The only requirement is that you’ve written at least a handful of songs before. The quality of the songs does not matter.

Q: Do I need to know music theory for SNAP?

A: While some music theory is certainly helpful, it is not required to enroll in SNAP. Our approach is extremely flexible and allows you to decide how much music theory you want to use.

Q: How long is SNAP?

A: SNAP is six one-on-one coaching sessions that occur over two months.

Q: What work am I required to do as part of SNAP?

A: In exchange for our full commitment to you, we ask for two things from you. First, take the program seriously and come prepared for each session. We estimate it will take 5 hours of individual time to prepare for each session. Second, provide feedback to help us improve the quality of the program - this will only take a few minutes per week.

Q: What outcomes can I expect after going through SNAP?

A: Through SNAP, not only will you learn our narrative-based approach, but you’ll also use the approach to write two songs.

Q: What is the cost of SNAP?

A: For a limited time only, SNAP is free! Why is it free? We genuinely think you’ll get a ton of value from SNAP, as we’ve already tested it with our own music, other songwriters’ music, and in songwriting workshops. But before we start charging for it, we want to do one free round to get your feedback and build momentum towards our official launch.

Q: What if I don’t like SNAP and want to quit?

A: We hope that you’ll stick around for at least 2 sessions before deciding to quit, as we really think you’ll get immense value out of the program. But if you do decide to quit, no problem at all. We just ask that you provide feedback before leaving.

Q: I’m interested in SNAP! How do I apply?

A: Go here to fill out our application. If you’re a good fit for our program, we’ll follow up within a few business days to schedule an introductory call. Seats are limited, so apply as soon as you can.

Q: Where can I learn more before deciding if I want to apply?

A: You can check out our YouTube videos here. You can also receive our free songwriting kit here, or visit our website here.

Q: May I ask you some additional questions?

A: Absolutely! Feel free to email us at [email protected]

Testimonials

It seems so simple to have a story in mind when writing a song, but it wasn't until working with Saral that I learned a method to fully integrate a narrative into my songwriting. On top of that, Saral is extremely knowledgeable about music as a whole, and he was able to meet me at my level throughout the entire songwriting program. I am no longer intimidated by writing music, and I am so grateful to have tools I will no doubt be using for the rest of my life. Thank you, Saral!

-Audrey (rock guitarist for 10 years)

I was intimidated about working with a songwriting coach because I had very little experience writing complete songs, but Saral’s course truly is applicable to any skill level. Over six sessions, Saral broke down the process of building a song around a narrative, providing a tool to map the whole process easily. Something I found interesting is that Saral’s approach to mapping songs is not only applicable for writing a song, but for sharing the vision and details of that song with producers, studio musicians, co-writers, you name it. As an aspiring audio engineer, I could easily envision using Saral’s song mapping process to communicate clearly with potential clients or producers. I also appreciated that, while each session of the course was structured, Saral left some room to veer off into the specific parts of songwriting and creating music that I was interested in. Overall, I’m glad I decided to take the course despite my initial doubts, and I got a lot out of it that I know I’ll continue to use.

-Brittany (punk guitarist & audio engineer for 2 years)

While it’s obviously not a new concept to write a song that tells a story, Saral’s technique of mapping the narrative to the song’s elements is the key to giving your compositions contrast and purpose from section to section and song to song. Recently one of my own songs has been transformed through this process, resulting in a composition above and beyond what I was previously capable of producing. Saral’s innovative method truly opened my eyes regarding what my compositions were missing, why they would come to a halt well before completion, and where they were falling apart. My music is never going to be the same again!

-Ron (synthwave producer for 8 years)

Years ago I wrote a song with a lot of repetitive verses, and recently I’ve wondered how I could keep it interesting with just me singing and playing piano. I spent the past hour looking at it from the perspective of wanting the accompaniment to better reflect the STORY in the song and pretty quickly came up with a whole new set of variations that make it a lot more fun to play and listen to. Saral's approach immediately helped me improve the song and make it more entertaining!

-KarenIngrid (singer/songwriter for 15 years)

Working with Saral was an invaluable experience. His narrative-driven approach breaks songwriting down into a clear, easy-to-learn process that tackles every element of music. After going through his program, I now know how to use narratives to write songs that have contrast and maintain interest throughout. This will help me push through when I’m lacking inspiration, and will improve my communication with my collaborators. I also thoroughly enjoyed deconstructing popular songs with Saral, as it gave me valuable insight into how small, narrative-driven changes can lead to huge improvements. Overall, Saral is a friendly and knowledgeable songwriting coach, and I would 100% recommend his program. 5 stars!
